Valuations

Here at Nortrad Auctions, we offer various Valuations as we appreciate that they may be required for different purposes. With a wealth of experience gained through years of buying and selling both at auction and running our auction, Nortrad Auctions are able to cover a wide range of subjects.

All valuations by appointment only.

We offer a free online valuation service to people who are considering the sale of their items through our auction room.

Please note – we require dimensions and a minimum of 1 image in order to offer even a preliminary valuation.

The following information would also be useful to help us give an accurate valuation:

  • Photos – Try to fill the frame with your item, and if possible, shoot it on a neutral background. You can submit up to 6 photos.
  • Look for any important marks on your object – such as manufacturers’ stamps, artists signature etc.
  • Dimensions – please measure your object and tell us the approximate dimensions (height, width, depth)
  • If there is any damage to your item, please photograph it
  • How you acquired the item – e.g. found, passed through family, purchased etc

Nortrad Auctions offer a FREE valuation service held in our offices, however, this is strictly by appointment only and we are only able to offer this in-house valuation service on a maximum of 3 items per appointment. Please call us on 01227 934567 to book.

Alternatively, Home visits can be arranged for larger consignments throughout Kent, Surrey and Sussex by appointment. There is no fee for this type of verbal advice but travelling expenses may apply depending on the distance.

Probate or Inheritance Valuations

Probate valuations are prepared in accordance with HMRC IHT 407, Customs & Excise forms and are based on fair market auction values as at the date of death.

Fees do apply for this type of written valuation and are based on a minimum charge of £165 + VAT, subject thereafter to an hourly rate on site of £125 + VAT. A travelling expense charge may also apply depending on the distance involved. Please ring 01580 847322 for details and a quotation.
